Niko went to his first Formal Dance, Winter Formal! I suggested he ask a friend of his, so he asked Anne Filmore, a girl from Orchestra and his Pre-Cal class. He came up with the way to ask in true authentic Niko fashion with this poster board. Everyone in the house was on pins and needles for days because she didn't respond for almost a week, but she said yes!
Here, they do what's called a "day date" where they go on a date before the dance. Almost all of the kids in the group were on the ballroom team so Niko started off watching them perform at their competition they had that morning. After, they all went ice skating and he had a great time. Lots of people he knew were there, including Kinzlee, a girl from his dance team, who threw a snowball at him. He was proud that he threw one back at her from across the rink-that hit her & knocked her over ><. After, they all went home and got ready for dance pictures. They took group pictures and couple pictures and then headed to Carmen Heap's house where they had dinner. I took care of dinner for them and made 2 different soups, rolls and a salad bar. After they did competitions including Christmas Trivia, Gingerbread Competition, and Lip Sync. Niko and his date won! They went to the dance after, and I picked them up. Niko and his date can't drive yet so I had to carpool and drive them, but Niko never minds and is always a good sport. Anne was quiet in the beginning, but so nice, and by the end of the night when we were driving home around midnight, both Niko and Anne had so much to say. They both had such a good time together, and I love that he was able to have such a positive experience and that he was a good date for her too. Anne was a good choice to take, they seemed very comfortable, she's so nice and they just both wanted to have a good time. I'm so glad that they had a great group to go with as well, low pressure friend group that was just wholesome and a ton of fun! He can't wait for the next dance (it'll be a Valentine's dance-girl's choice) and he hopes he gets asked. By the way, his tie matched her dress perfectly (we found a burgundy velvet tie) and his boutineer/corsage was so great and made by Nola!
