Niko tried out for the Highschool Golf Team. The tryouts were spread out over 2 days for 4-5 hrs each day. After Day 1 he got called back to appear for the next day. On day 2 he didn't do great and scored a 99. He didn't end up making it on the team. I think we kind of knew he wasn't going to make it, but were in denial. It was so sad to see him sad. We don't care if he's on the team or not, but we do care about our children being happy. Sadly, he didn't do as well as he sometimes does, and we know he has a lot more to work on for golf, but you still just want them to be happy and accomplish the goals they want to. I am curious how he'll take this set back. He likes golf, I know he does, he's just not consistent. Maybe he doesn't like it as a school sport, but maybe only as a hobby? Not sure yet, we'll see what spring brings.
I am so proud of him though. He put himself out there, and took a risk not knowing the outcome. He didn't quit, he saw it through and made a decision (I suggested trying out for the school soccer team, but he made the decision to tryout for golf) and stuck with his decision. Not everything goes the way we want, and Niko got a taste of what that's like. This might sound cheesy, but I 100% believe that failure is proof that we are trying. Good job Niko, I hope you always put yourself out there and just keep trying.
