Proud

 I’m proud of Niko.  Last week Niko golfed the south nine holes at Teton Lakes golf course.  It’s the more difficult part of the golf course, but it was available.  He went by himself and did awful.  He couldn’t even finish because he lost over 7 balls.  Well, on Wednesday nights they take perspective HS golfers and those from the HS golf team and let them golf for free at Teton Lakes.  He didn’t know it would be the back 9.  I was fully expecting him to say “never mind”, but instead, he hurried quickly to catch up with the group. 

I’d like to say it went amazing and he did so well, but that’s not what happened.  He got 1 par, and botched the rest of his game.  He even shanked it and it hit one of the other players feet.  But, I am so proud that he went.  Proud he didn’t say “never mind”.  And proud that he played through with these talented golfers. 

I also love that he said in his text while I was driving “I want to talk to you about it.”  I hope we always have open communication and that he always wants to talk to me, about anything!  Once I picked him up he talked, he teared up, he explained his frustration.  I hope he knows how proud I am of him that he even just went.
