Today was a hard day. When I got home from work at 3:30 I was exhausted. Johnny woke up at 5 ish to golf and I never got back to sleep after that. I worked quite a bit today too so I was just tired. When I got home the kids were sitting in front of the TV with a messy house and I could tell the Tv has been on all day. I was just mad. I was mad that they were acting lazy, I was mad I had to come home to do more work, and I was mad Niko procrastinated his lawn mowing gig to today and tomorrow.
We reluctantly packed up the car with the weed whacker (we’d decided he’d weed whack today & mow tomorrow for his gig-they have a lot of property). We spent lots of time prepping the yard for him-picking up sticks, moving dog toys, checking for rocks, etc. only for him to do 5-10 min of yard work and only a foot of weed trimming to realize it needed more cord. That did it for me, I was upset we’d driven out and did so much work to not even be prepared for the job today. I was frustrated and just went on about how he needs to be more responsible.
When we got home I was upset and told him to walk to all his YM leaders homes and find someone who would help him since Johnny gets home 10 ish tonight & leaves early tomorrow.
He walked around trying to find someone to help him without any success. He decided to call Andrew and Andrew walked him through what he needed to do. Niko walked to Ace, asked someone to help him, and then proceeded to fix the weed eater and get it ready to go. We ate a little dinner and then headed back out for a 2nd time. While he weed whacked, I started mowing and mowed until the battery died. Kai and Willow kept Navy safe in the yard and played/caught grasshoppers/made bracelets out of “Lego plants”. We felt like a team.
We decided to get a treat after because everyone helped. We needed to take this picture to remind us that our family can have bad days, we’re not perfect. I apologized to them & they apologized too. We did a group hug, and I reminded them, that we can have bad days, but look how we all pulled together and ended the day on a wonderful note and worked together.
