Cute girl had a dance competition in Pocatello yesterday. I was so worried because it had snowed all night and the weather was supposed to be snowy, rainy, and warnings of high winds. We left extra early to give ourselves plenty of time to travel. The first 15 min of the drive were great and then the remainder of the drive was pouring rain and windy. We drove really slow, and safely made it with time to spare. They did great at their competition and Willow had so much fun (worth missing school for in her opinion). Willow did exceptionally well at smiling and doing facial expressions during her dance.
I was so proud of her and how she handled herself during her Cuban Pete song. She froze at one point and couldn't remember one of the parts-she's always great at remembering, but for some reason yesterday was a little slip-up. She froze for a moment, yet kept smiling and took a few steps to figure out what her next step needed to be and got back on track. She didn't frantically look around at the other girls, or panic, but got herself together and just shined!
It was fun hanging out as just us girls, and Navy was a good sport when Willow needed to do costume changes, and just went with the flow in whatever needed to be done, whether we were watching Willow perform, waiting, or when I was busy helping Willow out. They did so great and earned two 1st places and two high gold. I'm still trying to figure out this dance world out and how competitions work. They'll get feedback from the judges sent to them so they can use that to better themselves on stage and shows what they excel at and what they need to work on. Fun day!
