Willow had to have turbinate reduction surgery on her nose. The turbinates in her nose were permanently swollen. The ENT was trying everything to get the swelling to go down. They tried allergy medication (oral and nasal sprays), antibiotics, and even prednisone to help with swelling and inflammation. Nothing helped in any way. He said they were most likely swollen because of a severe allergy, we just didn't know what. So they went ahead and did the 20 min surgery and took bloodwork to figure out what she was allergic to.
Willow is so brave and so smart. As she was waiting to have surgery the nurses were talking to her and letting her know how surgery would go. Willow told them she knew that she'd be able to breathe better and feel normal after the surgery and that it would be good for her. Surgery went so well and after about 24 hrs she was pretty much back to normal! We've been doing nasal sprays every 2-3 hrs and a nasal rinse every night before bed. She hates the nasal rinse (it basically makes her feel like she's drowning temporarily because it floods through her nose and even her mouth). Her follow up appointment is May 5 so hopefully everything looks good and we'll discuss what her allergies are and how we need to treat them so she doesn't need to get this surgery again!
