See ya Appendix!

Saturday was supposed to be a fun busy day.  Niko's soccer practice and game in the morning, and Kai's big lunch birthday party at 1pm.  I woke up around six with a stomachache but was able to ignore it after a little bit and go back to sleep.  I woke up at 8 and still had a nasty stomach ache.  It took a lot out of me to finally get out of bed and try and get moving.  I threw up a few times and thought I'd feel better, but I definitely did not feel good enough to go to Niko's morning soccer game.

Through the morning I kept throwing up and was just feeling terrible.  People started showing up for the party and I was NOT ready for it, but we decided to let the kids play anyways.  Around three I decided this might be more than a stomach bug.  I had literally thrown up over twenty times and it was getting bad.  I went to the Community Care in town, since of course I got sick on a weekend, and they kept thinking it was just some bad stomach bug.  They gave me medication to help with the nausea (it helped only a little) and gave me some IV fluids just to make sure I wouldn't get too dehydrated from all the sick sick sickness.  As I was there I was progressively feeling worse and my back and stomach was starting to hurt too.  Every time a nurse came to check on me I kept telling them I was in pain, but they did nothing about it.  It made me really frustrated and after almost two hours, I told them "I just had a baby and a c section so I understand pain, and right now I'm feeling a lot of pain."  A quick five minutes after that I got a nice shot for pain in my bottom.  They realized I really wasn't doing better so they sent me up to go to the emergency room.

Up at the emergency room they did a CT Scan and then gave me some nice pain meds in my IV and nausea medication.  It was the best I had felt the whole entire day.  Then the doctor came in, put pressure on the left side of my stomach (a little discomfort) and then put pressure on the right side (OUCH).  The doctor advised the CT Scan showed an extremely inflamed appendix that they wanted removed before it burst.  Things moved quickly after that, I got dressed in a gown, I got a blessing, and anesthesia was started and I slept through the hour long procedure.

And now I don't have an appendix.  I've been in quite a bit of pain, it bruised around the incision, and have just assumed recovery would be a little slower because I hadn't fully recovered from the c section either.

I have had so much help out with the kids and meals and the house I'm so grateful.  BUT, I cannot wait til I feel "normal".

(This is about 5 days after)
