Madison Dance Showcase

A few days ago we attended Madison’s Dance Showcase. That entailed MJH and Highschool’s dance teams showcasing all the different dances they performed through the year. Willow’s dance group was invited to perform their hip hop piece (NSYNC mix-up). They did a great job and Willow really stepped it up with her facials, she was adorable and so fun to watch. It was fun to watch the other dance numbers as well. Niko was so excited because he choreographed the Madison Jr High’s hip hop piece and was not only able to watch it and see the girls do an excellent job, but when they announced the piece they also announced his name as the choreographer. It was the first time he truly got public recognition for the work he did. We loved being able to celebrate that too and cheer for him and the excellent job the girls did with what he created for them.

Feeling Extra Grateful

 Feeling extra grateful today.  Willow had her friend Auzi over and they made cookies and did art, Kai had two friends over they walked to dollar tree and then watched a movie and played video games, Navy had two friends over to play and Niko went to physical therapy and helped buy powdered sugar during all the fun crazy before he went to hangout with Jeremiah and other friends.  Just 2 yrs ago it looked a lot different.  We couldn’t have lots of friends over, the house felt tiny.  In fact, we didn’t have as many friends too because all the neighbors lived across the street and our house was on the other side of the busy road.  No one would ever pop in.  I feel so blessed to have a comfortable home where kids can come, there’s space for everyone and kids like to come over.  I’m quietly making the frosting for the cookies the girls just made while Maggie and Navy play in the backyard.  I loved hearing the boys try to one up each other with burps, I loved voting and rating the girls drawings and I loved this little conversation I heard of Navy’s.  Navy and Maggie were doing their makeup and Maggie said "Wow we look beautiful,"  "Yeah like princesses!  Like Sleeping Beauty!"  "Sleeping Booty?!"  "No, Sleeping Beauty!  I mean Sleeping Doody!"  "Sleeping Tootie!"  The girls started cracking up, but their friend Alice just stared at them with the most blank stare.  

Astronomy Ceca

 So proud of Kai, he got a 97% on his Astronomy CECA.  Good job working extra hard!

Vocal Point Concert

Johnny and I went on a date to watch Niko in concert with Vocal Point and Noteworthy.  What a cool concert.  Vocal Point and Noteworthy are Acapella groups from BYU.  They're so talented and fun to watch.  They performed lots of fun modern songs and then performed 3 songs with Madison Highschool's Fine Arts Program (choir, band and orchestra).  It was so beautiful and the music was very moving.  Loved every minute of it!

 

Bathroom Partner

 Today at dinner, Willow was talking about how kids have been ruining the bathrooms at school so everyone has to go to the bathroom with a partner.  Willow is asked by her teacher all the time to accompany girls to the bathroom.  Today during math she was asked to go with someone, and I guess her face was easy to read that she wanted to keep doing her work.  Her teacher told her "You can bring that with you to the bathroom."  Willow said she was so excited that her teacher would let her bring her math homework with her while she was being the bathroom buddy.  Love that girl!  Only Willow would do that!!

Sweethearts & Winter Formal

 I missed posting about the last 2 dances Niko went to.  Winter Formal and Sweethearts Dance were both girls choice.  Kanon asked Niko to Sweethearts and Natalie asked him to Winter Formal.  Both dances had fun day dates and he had a great time!
